Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL), the government-owned company that runs the high-voltage grid, published an advert for an Electrical Technician on 26 October 2026. The closing date is Friday 6 November 2026 at 5:00 pm.

The technician joins the Network Operations and Maintenance department and reports to the maintenance engineer for substations. The work is inspecting, testing and repairing transformers, switchgear and other substation equipment, keeping records of it, and responding when equipment fails and power goes out.

You need a National Diploma or Higher Diploma in Electrical or Electromechanical Engineering and at least two years maintaining high-voltage power transformers and switchgear. Specialised high-voltage training is an advantage, and you must be willing to work extended hours when needed.

Applications are electronic only, through the link in the advert. Send copies of your academic testimonials and a detailed CV with three referees and their full addresses. The job is a contract under Ministry of Public Service guidelines, and the advert doesn't state a salary. UETCL's separate advert for two land surveyors closed on 30 October.

UETCL is also building. On 22 October it broke ground on the Karuma to Tororo 400kV line, about 347 km across 15 districts, valued at about EUR 342.59 million. The advert doesn't link this post to that project, so don't assume the job is on it.

Applying is free, and nobody should pay for a job.
