Basic Function (Summary of the function).
The Senior Research Officer leads and coordinates research, innovation and policy analysis initiatives of the TVET Council to generate evidence, promote knowledge management, and support planning, innovation, policy advocacy and strategic decision-making. The position identifies emerging trends, challenges and opportunities within the TVET subsector, promotes innovative solutions to strengthen TVET regulation, coordination and promotion, and facilitates the generation and dissemination of research outputs to inform policy, planning and continuous improvement.

Supervision received: Manager, Strategic Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation
Supervision exercised: Supervise the Research Officer.
Education requirements:
- Master’s degree in economics, Statistics, Social Sciences or a related field.
- A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in statistics, economics, social sciences or related relevant field is required.
- Training or certification in research methods and research ethics is an added advantage.
Experience
- At least three (3) years of applied research experience within the education/public, TVET or development sector in Uganda.
- Familiarity with TVET-specific issues and Uganda's skills development landscape will be an added advantage.
Knowledge and Skills
- Proficiency in research design, and in quantitative and qualitative research tools and ethical research protocols.
- Exceptional analytical, writing and synthesis skills for producing high-impact research outputs.
- Strong networking, coordination, and communication abilities in multi-stakeholder environments.
Physical Demands: Full Time
Travel requirements: The position requires frequent field travel.
