Role overview

We are seeking a Pre-Sales Engineer to support our sales team by translating customer requirements into effective technical solutions. The role involves conducting product demonstrations, preparing technical proposals, responding to client inquiries and collaborating with Sales and Technical teams to deliver solutions that meet customer needs. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically skilled professional who enjoys customer engagement and solution design.

Essential Requirements

  • 5–8 years of relevant ICT experience, with at least 3 years in technical pre-sales, solution architecture, consulting or solution engineering.
  • Broad understanding of cybersecurity, cloud, networking, servers, storage, backup, virtualization and managed services.
  • Proven ability to conduct customer technical discovery, translate business requirements into technical solutions and develop solution architectures.
  • Experience preparing technical proposals, RFP/RFQ responses, compliance matrices, Bills of Materials (BOMs), Statements of Work and solution designs.
  • Ability to deliver customer presentations, solution workshops, demonstrations and Proofs of Concept (PoCs).
  • Good understanding of solution costing, licensing, implementation effort and commercial considerations to help protect project margins.
  • Strong experience engaging OEMs, distributors and technology partners, especially within the Microsoft ecosystem.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technology to both technical and business decision-makers.
  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Relevant certifications

Desirable Requirements

  • Experience with other major technology vendors such as HPE, Dell Technologies, Cisco, Fortinet, Nutanix, F5, Paloalto, Sophos, Veeam or VMware/Broadcom.
  • Microsoft certifications in Azure, Microsoft 365, Security, Entra ID, Defender or Power Platform.
  • Previous experience working within a systems integrator, cloud service provider, MSP or technology reseller environment.
  • Good understanding of cloud migration, hybrid infrastructure, cybersecurity and digital transformation projects.
  • Experience designing multi-vendor solutions rather than being limited to a single technology platform.
  • Experience developing and presenting Proofs of Concept (PoCs), demos and technical workshops.
  • Understanding of project costing, professional-services estimation and commercial margin considerations.
  • Experience engaging enterprise and public-sector customers, including formal tenders and procurement processes.
  • Strong relationships or previous engagement with OEMs, distributors and technology partners.
  • Ability to work across multiple African markets, supporting Account Managers remotely and on-site where necessary.
  • Excellent documentation, presentation and communication skills, particularly the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes.

Preferred profile: A technically strong but commercially minded individual who can comfortably move from a customer boardroom discussion to a detailed architecture/BOM session with engineers and vendors.

Interested candidates who meet the above criteria should submit their application.
